Backing up data is an essential task for some people. There is no way of predicting when a software or hardware failure may occur, so you should always have an insurance policy. Snap Backup will help you with this specific task. It will not slow you down with any advanced settings. Just tell it what you want to back up and it will place the data in one or two archives immediately.

To run the program successfully, you will need to have Java installed on your computer. Besides this, there are no other requirements you have to meet. Snap Backup does not ask for powerful hardware, it's free and it is available for Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris and, of course, Windows.

To back up your files, you need to add them to a list, on the upper area of the interface. You can add files or folders, using different browsing options. The targeted files will be added to a Zip file, which will be placed in a different location on your hard drive. Of course, if you want a different path, other than the default one, you can change it.

You can also create a copy of the backup and place it anywhere you want. Simply tick this option on the interface and specify a path. The archive's name will contain the current date. If you access the main settings window, you can choose a specific order for the year, month and date, select a two or four digits year format and more. The Backup Now button can be found on the bottom edge of the interface. Once you click it, the software will start backing up your selected data without prompting you for anything. If you want to keep the settings you made, you can save them as a file and load it at a later time.

Pros

Snap Backup will not intimidate the user with complex options. It only requires selecting files or folders and clicking a button. The process is fast, so it will not keep you waiting for too long. Besides the fact that it is free, the program can run on various operating systems.

Cons

You can not schedule the program for automatic backups. With Snap Backup you are just one click away from backing up your important files. It is fast, reliable and it can save you from unpleasant situations.
